1. Year 13 students — your date of birth is between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008.
2. University freshers — you were born on or after 21 July 2001 (i.e. you turn 25 on or after 21 July 2026) and you’re starting undergraduate higher education for the first time in autumn 2026. This includes international students and those coming from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the Crown Dependencies.
3. Further education students living in halls/residential accommodation — you were born on or after 21 July 2001 and you’re starting further education for the first time in autumn 2026 andwill be living in further education accommodation or halls of residence. This also includes international and out-of-England students, provided your college or setting is on the NHS list of eligible residential FE settings.

Pharmacies need to offer walk in availability for the “university/residential further education” eligible cohort

• As per the Service Specification, 4.18. “The pharmacy contractor must offer vaccination through advertised walk-in clinics via the Pharmacy Services Finder.” This cohort cannot currently use the National Booking Service, so need to be able to arrange an appointment locally or be seen as a walk in.
• Please ensure that your NHS Profile Manager is up to date and manage your vaccine supply to allow for walk-in activity or locally booked appointments for this cohort.
• It is acceptable for pharmacies to locally arrange an appointment at a later date for individuals who present as a “walk-in patient” if you only have sufficient vaccine to cover your booked appointments – or the individual may prefer to try other local pharmacies who may have supply there and then.

• An official offer email from your university/college (usually an .ac.uk address) or from UCAS;
• A letter (paper or email) confirming your offer of a place for 2026/27; or
• A screenshot of your offer from the UCAS Hub.

• Have already completed a 2-dose course of the Bexsero® vaccine within the last 5 years; or
• Have completed a 2-dose (at least 6 months apart) or 3-dose course of Trumenba® within the last 5 years.

• Fever, with cold hands and feet
• Severe headache
• Stiff neck
• Sensitivity to light
• Nausea and vomiting
• Confusion or drowsiness
• A rash that doesn’t fade under pressure (though this doesn’t always appear, and other symptoms may develop first)

• The MenB vaccine (Bexsero®) is given as an injection into the upper arm.
• You will need two doses, given at least 28 days apart, to be fully protected.
• Your first dose must be given before 31 December 2026, so please don’t leave it too late — ideally, book as early as possible, especially if you’re heading off to university or college this autumn.
• Your second dose can be booked at any participating pharmacy — it doesn’t have to be with us.
• The vaccine is free of charge on the NHS for those who are eligible.
• Common side effects are usually mild and include soreness at the injection site, tiredness, and headache — these typically pass within a day or two.
