Influenza (Flu) Vaccination
Why get the flu jab? Influenza is more than a heavy cold – it’s a viral illness affecting your lungs that can lead to serious complications, especially for those with underlying health conditions. Common symptoms include fever, chills, muscle ache, headaches, and fatigue. While most healthy adults recover, flu can cause hospitalisation or even be life-threatening.
Why vaccinate? The flu jab is the best way to reduce your risk of severe illness and protect vulnerable individuals around you. New Milton Pharmacy offers the flu vaccination programme every year on the NHS to help protect people at risk of getting seriously ill from flu, running for the 2026/27 season from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Who’s eligible for an NHS flu jab at our pharmacy this year?
From 1 September 2026:
- All pregnant women (including those who become pregnant during the flu season)
From 1 October 2026:
- Children aged 2 or 3 (born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2024)
- Anyone aged 2 to under 65 in a clinical risk group (e.g. asthma/COPD, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, severely weakened immune system, morbid obesity, and other listed conditions)
- Adults aged 65 and over
- People experiencing homelessness
- Household contacts of people who are immunosuppressed
- Residents of long-stay residential care homes
- Carers (including those receiving Carer’s Allowance)
- Frontline health/social care staff without access to an employer-led vaccination scheme
From 1 December 2026:
- School-aged children who missed the offer through their school-aged immunisation service, including those up to age 25 attending a special educational needs school who are in a clinical risk group

COVID19 Vaccination
Important update: We’re offering COVID19 vaccinations as part of the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Service, commissioned by NHS England, running alongside our flu programme this winter. This allows co-administration with your flu jab, in one convenient visit, where you’re eligible for both.
Who can receive the booster this year (autumn 2026)?
- Adults aged 75 and over
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as defined in the Green Book, chapter 14a (Tables 3 and 4) — e.g. chronic respiratory, heart, kidney, liver or neurological disease; diabetes and other endocrine disorders; immunosuppression; asplenia; morbid obesity; severe mental illness; younger adults in long-stay residential care; and pregnancy
Please note: eligibility criteria are set by the JCVI and confirmed by NHS England each season — please check with our team or the NHS website if you’re unsure whether you qualify.
Why now? The COVID19 booster programme runs in parallel with flu vaccine schedules (October to January), promoting timely protection before virus circulation increases.
What to expect:
- Administered under NHS protocols
- May be co-administered with your flu jab if eligible
- Delivered by our trained professional in a safe, clinical setting
Book your COVID19 vaccination only here: If you’ve already had your flu jab or are only eligible for the COVID19 booster, this option is for you.
