Shingles Vaccination
Shingles Vaccination Now Available at New Milton Pharmacy!
Shingles is a painful viral infection caused by the reactivation of the same virus that causes chickenpox. If you’ve ever had chickenpox, the virus can remain dormant in your body and may reactivate later in life — often during times of stress or weakened immunity. Shingles can lead to long-term complications such as Post-Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN), where nerve pain lasts for months or even years after the rash has healed.
👉 Who is at risk?
Shingles affects 1 in 3 people in their lifetime, with risk increasing with age. It’s more common in individuals aged 50 and over.
💉 How does the vaccine help?
At New Milton Pharmacy, we offer the Shingrix vaccine, which is over 90% effective at preventing shingles. Even if you’ve had shingles before, the vaccine can help reduce the risk of future episodes and lessen the severity of symptoms if you do get it again.
